Safe Shopping Online
Super Security Tips

Online Shopping Did you know the safest way to shop online is with your credit card?
If you ever encounter problems with your order, or have unauthorised order processed on your card, you are 100% protected.

It is actually safer to pay with a credit card online than it is to pay with cash in a store. Credit Card transactions are recorded and you are protected against any misuse.

There are also other methods of paying for goods online. If you choose to pay by Paypal or money order, make sure the methods are supported by the shopping site. Paypal provides ratings for merchants so you can see how many successful transactions they have completed. If you have to pay by money order and are unsure of the site’s safety, you can ask for references to satisfied customers or testimonials.

Secure Zones

It is easy to tell whether the payment area of a site is secure or not.
In a secure zone, two things change.

The web address will change from http://www to https://www. The ‘s’ is important because it shows the site is secure and your data is encrypted.

A small lock will also appear in the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. This shows your computer is in a secure zone.

What do I do if-

My goods didn’t arrive?
I’ve been sent the wrong items?
I’ve been charged for an order I didn’t make?

If a problem ever occurs you should take it up with the merchant first. Online contact details are a prerequisite for Find Buy Save listings, so you can get in touch with the merchant from their website. They should get back to you in a day or two to resolve the matter.

Chargebacks

If you are unhappy with their response or they do not give you a refund, you can call your bank and initiate a chargeback. A chargeback is a refund of money for orders you did not authorise, orders that didn’t arrive and orders that were misrepresented.

The merchants will do their best to resolve the matter ASAP, as too many chargeback’s will affect their credit rating.

Keep in mind that it is the merchants responsibility to ensure that all orders are authorised, not yours. A shopping site has 30-60 days to dispute a chargeback. The credit card companies will usually side with the cardholder when these disputes arise.

More Help?

You can also email Find Buy Save and have us contact the merchant on your behalf. Only 30% of sites that apply to Find Buy Save are accepted so merchants value their listing.

If a site is deemed by Find Buy Save as operating unfairly, they will have their listing withdrawn.

To stay safe online, stick with Find Buy Save and remember to check the security of the sites you shop at.
